Central Instrumentation Lab

The Central Instrumentation Lab at Chandra Shekhar Singh College of Pharmacy is a state-of-the-artfacility equipped with highly sophisticated and sensitive analytical instruments that support pharmaceutical education, training, and research.practice, and we emphasize strong computer training for our students.

Housed in a centrally located, fully air-conditioned laboratory, this facility provides an excellent environment for students and faculty to conduct advanced analytical and research activities. These instruments are not only used by M.Pharm researchers and faculty members, but also by B.Pharmstudents during their practical training sessions. The equipment represents cutting-edge pharmaceutical technology and includes instruments of very high value, some costing several lakhs of rupees, reflecting the institution’s commitment to quality education and research.

Key Instruments and Their Applications

High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) – A highly sophisticated instrument used for the separation, identification, and quantification of components in pharmaceutical formulations. Essential for quality control and drug analysis.

UV-Visible Spectrophotometer – Measures the absorbance of solutions at different wave lengths of light, widely used for drug assay, dissolution testing, and analytical studies.

High Pressure Homogenizer – Used for reducing particle size and producing stable nanoparticles, nanoemulsions, suspensions, etc. a crucial process in modern drug delivery systems.

Fluorimeter – Detects and measures the fluorescence of compounds, useful for sensitive drug analysis and biochemical studies.

Polarimeter – Measures the optical rotation of chiral compounds, important in pharmaceutical chemistry where drug stereo chemistry matters.

Colorimeter – Used for measuring the intensity of color in solutions, applied in routine drug analysis and quality checks.

Digital pH Meter – Provides precise measurement of acidity or alkalinity, essential for formulationstability and compatibility studies.

Potentiometer – Used for titrations and electrochemical studies, ensuring accuracy inanalyticalexperiments.

Abbe’s Refractometer – Measures the refractive index of solutions, important for purity analysis and identification of compounds.

Digital Balances (1 mg sensitivity) – High-precision weighing instruments crucial for accurate preparation of samples and formulations.

Conductivity Meter – Determines the ionic strength and conductivity of solutions, widely used inquality testing of pharmaceutical products.

Importance :- The Central Instrumentation Lab not only offers hands-on experience with these advanced and expensive instruments, but also serves as a hub for innovative research and quality analysis. Students gain direct exposure to industry-relevant analytical techniques, preparing themto meet the challenges of pharmaceutical research and development.
