The Medicinal Garden at Chandra Shekhar Singh College of Pharmacy is one of the most distinctive features of the campus, reflecting our deep commitment to preserving and promoting the traditional knowledge of medicinal plants along with their modern

Spread across a well-planned and carefully maintained area within the campus, the garden serves as a living repository of medicinal flora. Plants have been procured from renowned herbal gardens, botanical nurseries, and natural habitats to ensure authenticity and diversity. Currently, the gardenhouses more than 50 species of medicinally important plants, with continuous efforts to expand and enrich the collection.

Academic and Research Value

The Medicinal Garden plays a vital role in the practical training of students, particularly in the subjects of Pharmacognosy, Phytochemistry, and Natural Products. Students are given the opportunity to:
Identify plants by their botanical and vernacular names.
Study their taxonomic classification and family characteristics.
Learn about their morphological features, chemical constituents, and medicinal uses.
Gain practical knowledge on the collection, cultivation, and conservation of medicinal plants.
This hands-on experience builds a strong foundation for understanding the importance of plants in drug discovery, formulation development, and herbal research.

Research and Innovation

The Medicinal Garden also provides a natural laboratory for herbal drug research, enabling faculty and students to explore traditional knowledge systems alongside modern pharmaceutical sciences. It creates opportunities for projects and dissertations focused on:
Isolation of bioactive phytochemicals.
Development of herbal formulations.
Evaluation of pharmacological activities of natural products.
Importance :- The Medicinal Garden not only strengthens our academic curriculum but also inspires students to appreciate the rich heritage of Indian medicinal plants and their relevance in contemporary healthcare. It is a green resource hub that nurtures curiosity, research, and innovation, while instilling in students the values of conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.
